The TA Series MG was produced between 1936 and 1938 as a replacement for the P-Type midget. Improvements included hydraulic brakes and a 4-speed, synchromesh gearbox, both firsts for MG, as well as an improved chassis design and engine. The car is known as a Tickford because of its unique patented, three-position hood (top) with chrome exterior landau irons. About 250 Tickford Drophead Coup├ęs were built and only half of the TA production has survived, with only a few, including this car, retaining an original MGJP engine. A complete and accurate restoration was completed in mid-2011. This car has also won First-in-Class awards at the 2011 Hilton Head Island and at the 2012 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegances.
