This Ferrari 365 GTB/4, commonly referred to as a Ferrari “Daytona,” was not originally designed for competition, but Luigi Chinetti’s North American Racing Team had other ideas. This Ferrari was converted into a competition model utilizing a Ferrari Series 3 Competizione 4.4-liter engine, producing 470 hp at 7,800 rpm. The current owner’s brother purchased the car in 1976. The car was placed back into street configuration in 1987 so the car could be driven more often. The car participated in the 1998 revival of the La Carrera Classic race from Ensenada to San Felipe, Mexico and averaged 100 mph across the Baja Peninsula in the 100-mile race. The current owner campaigns this Ferrari in vintage events throughout the U.S.
