1967 Honker Can-Am Race Car

Owned by Thomas Mittler Estate, Three Rivers, Michigan

1967 Honker

Funded by Ford via American stock car specialists Holman Moody, Project 77 was designed and built in England and later named “Honker II” in reference to John Holman’s frequent use of air horns while driving big-rigs. This car was built with a full-length aluminum monocoque and powered by a race-prepared, fuel injected version of Ford’s 351 ci V8.  Despite being driven by world-class racer Mario Andretti, the Honker II failed to live up to expectations. After a lackluster 1967 Can-Am season the car was retired from racing.
